Kajian selama 7 hari telah dijalankan oleh sebuah kumpulan pelajar jurusan kimia dan biologi tahun tiga Universiti Canterbury. Kumpulan pelajar ini dibahagi kepada beberapa bahagian secara bergilir-gilir. Setiap hari, separuh dari 10 yang mengambil bahagian akan disemburkan dengan pheromones yang tulin iaitu Phero-X. Separuh lagi disembur dengan pheromones berjenama lain, yang bahan asanya adalah alkohol dan juga air. Pelajar-pelajar tadi tidak tahu sama ada ia disembur dengan formula betul atau tidak. Tugas pelajar-pelajar tadi adalah, mereka dikehendaki mengira jumlah hari mereka guna campuran pheromones asli dengan pheromones yang tidak berkesan dengan tepat. Ujikaji yang dijalankan akhirnya berjaya, mereka dapat menunjukkan secara saintifiknya Phero-X berkesan. Mereka dapat merasakan kesan-kesan pemikat yang terhasil oleh Phero-X ketika mereka bergaul sesama pelajar wanita dan lelaki. Pelajar-pelajar tersebut berjaya meneka hari mereka memakai Phero-X dengan tepat dan 77% keputusan yang tetap sama, setiap kali ujian dijalankan.
